In-Game sounds through Laptop Speakers, Ventrilo voice chat through Headset, possible?

I just got a new Steelseries 5h V2 headset for Xmas.
Now, the point of me getting this was to listen to Vent (while raiding in WOW) through the headset, and still hear the in-game sounds through my laptop speakers. (Instead of hearing both through the laptop).
So, I set up the headset, but the ingame sounds and ventrilo are both coming through the headset
how do i make it so ventrilo comes through the headset, and wow comes through the speakers?

If you have the USB version, Just set your chat program to use that sound device instead of your computer's fixed sound device.

If it is the 3.5mm version, you need to get a USB sound card, and do the above.

I want a headset I can wear for hours on end that will still be comfortable and wont get hot, great sound quality, and a clear mic.
